Introduction

North Staff’s Urgent Care Ltd (formerly the Doctors Co-operative) has been providing Out of Hour’s medical care and advice to the patient population of North Staffordshire since 1994.

Since the inception of the service our model has evolved to reflect and recognise the real contribution that a multi disciplinary team can deliver. The organisation has a progressive out look to service development initiatives and in deed was nationally one of the first co-operatives to introduce and embrace the concept of telephone nurse triage. More recently we strengthen this activity by investing in Computerised Clinical Assessment software (TAS) which on a day to day basic under pins and supports consistent evidence base decision making.

Because of the leadership of the Doctors Co-op, the pride, continued loyalty and co-operation of its pass members, North Staffs Urgent Care Ltd today, enjoy the privilege position of having retained a substantial number of doctors who remain committed to working regular sessions for the organisation.

NSUC has the multi disciplinary resources, the clinical and management expertise to co-ordinate the delivery of annually in excess of 85,000 episodes of Out of Hours Care. Supporting the front line team, our lean administration team work tirelessly behind the scenes generating call handler nurse and doctor’s rota’s, preparing the centre for daily sessions, producing productivity and management reports etc.
